‘Crisis on Earth X’

After months of teasing and rumors, The CW has announced the concept for this year’s 4-part DC TV crossover; “Crisis on Earth X!” Fans from DC comics are well familiar with the “Crisis” series that DC has ran over the years. Earth X in DC Comics was a world where the Nazi’s won WWII, so who knows what is going to happen!

The Story Behind the Crossover

Executive producers Marc Guggenheim & Andrew Kreisberg has this to say about the direction for the new crossover: “We conceived this year’s crossover to be evocative of the annual Justice League/Justice Society crossovers we grew up with and looked forward to as kids. Phil was the perfect choice to bring the comic book cover iteration of this idea to life. You can count on one hand the number of artists who could compellingly represent so many characters in a single image. Phil is one of them. And his design invokes the cover of Justice League #207, which was the 20th Annual JLA/JSA crossover. Our ten year-old selves are in heaven.”

Here is the official synopsis for the crossover:

The crossover is officially described as follows: “With all of the heroes in town to celebrate Barry and Iris’s wedding, villains from Earth-X crash the festivities with a deadly agenda.”

I bought the issues Marc and Andrew talk about off the spinner rack when they came out. The three-way crossover between the JLA, JSA, and the All-Star Squadron was an incredible time-jumping, dimension hopping event and possibly the best of the 25 years worth of crossovers.

If this “Earth-X” crossover is even half as good as that one, we are in for a real treat!
