For the second season in a row, Supergirl ended with the mystery of “Who’s in the pod?” During the summer hiatus last year, we found out that Chris Wood had joined the cast as a mystery character. It wasn’t until a few days later at San Diego Comic-Con that it was revealed that he was going to be the person in the pod that Kara (Melissa Benoist) and J’onn (David Harewood) found at the end of the season. It then wasn’t until a few weeks later at the Television Critics Association panel that it was revealed that Wood’s character would be Kara’s future boyfriend, Mon-El.

This year, however, we’re getting answers much earlier. TVLine revealed last week that the person in the pod that got shipped off of Krypton on the day of its destruction was Reign, one of five Worldkillers created by Kara’s father, Zor-El (Robert Grant). Today, a press release was sent out stating that Reign will be played by House and October Road alum Odette Annable.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said. “We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign.”

Annable will join the cast as a series regular when Supergirl returns for its third season in the fall on The CW.
