The Arrowverse executive producers have never shied away from casting other CW actors in its shows. It has alums from The Vampire Diaries as Dr. Carla Tannhauser (Susan Walters) on The Flash and Mon-El (Chris Wood) on Supergirl, a former cast member from Greg Berlanti’s The Tomorrow People as Susan Walters (Carly Pope) on Arrow, Shantel VanSanten, former star of The Messengers, as Patty Spivot also on The Flash, and The Originals alum Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. It looks like that tradition will continue as iZombie‘s Rahul Kohli was just cast as Jack Spheer (better known as DC Comics villain Biomax) on Supergirl.
Kohli, who plays Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on the zom-com-rom-dram, will be appearing in episode 2×18, titled ‘Ace Reporter’, an episode that will focus on Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) career as a journalist. According to Entertainment Weekly, Spheer is a “charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world – if it works.” He’s come to National City to show off his invention to the press, including Kara and her boss, Snapper (Ian Gomez), rekindling his flame with ex-girlfriend Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) in the process. Here’s what EP Andrew Kreisberg had to say about the episode:
“[Focusing on Kara’s career has] actually been very important to us, especially in the times we now find ourselves living in; we’re one of the few shows on television that actually has a journalist as a lead character. We really get a chance to talk about the importance of journalism, and the importance of journalism ethics, and how important [it is to have] the objective truth be out there now.”
As for Kohli, he revealed that he’s “so excited” to join the show:
“It’s given me the chance to continue my relationship with The CW as well as fulfill my goal of meeting a Kryptonian.”
Supergirl returns for the second part of Jeremiah’s (Dean Cain) return in ‘Exodus’ airing on March 6th at 8/7c on The CW.
