One of the most shocking events this season on Arrow was the surprising betrayal of Evelyn Sharp, aka Artemis (played by Madison McLaughlin). Just when it seemed she was starting to gel with the other new recruits on Team Arrow, she revealed that she’d been working with Prometheus the entire time. She hasn’t been seen on the show since, but that’s going to change very soon.
Last week, Arrow executive producer and co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com, “You know, it has sort of played out, like we haven’t seen the last of Artemis, but at the same time, there’s not a lot for us as writers or the characters to do with the fact that Artemis betrayed them. It happened. It’s sort of over, and they’ve got some other, bigger problems that are coming their way. You haven’t seen the last of Artemis, but in the short term, they’ve got some other fish to fry.”
“…As much as [Evelyn] took the moral high ground when confronting Oliver, she has allied herself with someone who is even worse.”
From Bad to Worse
Now, in a teasing new snippet to TVLine, executive producer and co-showrunner Wendy Mericle says, “We have a really cool, exciting twist for how she’s going to reappear. The interesting thing about the choices Evelyn has made is that as much as she took the moral high ground when confronting Oliver, she has allied herself with someone who is even worse. She’s gone from the frying pan into the fire.”
Very interesting. Could Artemis now regret her decision to align herself with Prometheus and come crawling back to Oliver for redemption? Time will tell.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW.
