Kevin Smith’s upcoming Supergirl episode continues to look more and more exciting. The newest trailer for ‘Supergirl Lives’ dropped today and it. Is. Epic.
Previous trailers focused mainly on the return of Roulette and the trafficking operation she’s apparently running on Slaver’s Moon. This time around, the focus is squarely on Livewire.
Brit Morgan played Livewire in two episodes last season, including ‘Worlds Finest,’ where she went up against both Supergirl and The Flash.
In addition, there’s plenty more in this new trailer about the other heroes on the show. Mon-El finally decides to be a hero and spends a good chunk of the trailer training with Kara. Meanwhile, James Olsen admits that he feels much more like himself when he’s running around as Guardian.
Plus, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo from the Dominators, the alien race behind the epic four-show Invasion! crossover earlier this season.
So Much Awesomeness
So, let’s break this down. In one single episode of Supergirl, we’ll see the returns of Roulette, Livewire, and the Dominators, plus we get major character development from both Mon-El and James Olsen. And it’s all directed by Kevin Smith! Not to get too excitable, but this could honestly be the best episode of Supergirl so far.
Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Supergirl Lives’ to refresh your memory:
KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman).
To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.
UPDATE: The CW is still billing this as an extended trailer for ‘Supergirl Lives, but now that the synopsis has been released for the following week’s episode, ‘We Can Be Heroes,’ it seems more likely that most of this footage is actually from that episode.
‘Supergirl Lives’ will debut when Supergirl returns from winter hiatus on Monday, January 23 at 8/7c on The CW.
