Greg Berlanti is ringing in the new year with a major announcement — his engagement!

The co-creator and executive producer of Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl is engaged to his longtime boyfriend, Major League Soccer player Robbie Rogers.

Berlanti, 44, and LA Galaxy star Rogers, 29, have been together since 2013. Early last year, the couple welcomed their first son, Caleb, via a surrogate.

The couple announced the news this past weekend on their social media accounts:

Rogers shared the same photo, with the caption “Thank you to everyone before us that made this moment possible… I feel extremely lucky and blessed to end 2016 engaged to the love of my life. ❤ Happy New Year!”

It’s amazing that Berlanti even finds time to have a personal life! In addition to the four DC shows on The CW, Berlanti is also the executive producer on the network’s upcoming Riverdale series, as well as NBC’s Blindspot.

Rogers is the first openly gay player in Major League Soccer. He revealed his sexual orientation in 2013, shortly before his relationship with Berlanti became public. The following year, when the Galaxy won the MLS Cup championship, Rogers became the first openly gay male athlete to win a professional sports title in the United States.
