Tonight’s episode of Arrow, ‘A Matter of Trust,’ has thus far been notable mostly for the inclusion of wrestler Cody Rhodes as gun dealer Derek Sampson. Rhodes and Arrow star Stephen Amell have had a sort-of mock rivalry for several years, with Amell even appearing in the wrestling ring to take him on.

Now there’s word that tonight’s episode might have another noteworthy inclusion. According to GreenArrowTV, actor Michael Rowe will return as Suicide Squad member Floyd Lawton/Deadshot.

Deadshot was last seen in episode 3×17, ‘Suicidal Tendencies,’ where he blew himself up along with a hospital in the Republic of Kasnia. Allegedly, executives from DC Comics and/or Warner Bros. had asked the Arrow producers to stop using the Suicide Squad characters due to this forthcoming big budget movie version.

Indeed, Will Smith played Deadshot in August’s Suicide Squad movie. After the success of the movie, most Arrow fans assumed the characters would continue to be off-limits for the Arrowverse. However, with DC president Geoff Johns assuming a more active role in the film/television productions, it has been presumed those kinds of limits might be loosened.

So how exactly will Deadshot return? Well, we never actually saw him die — though it would be pretty astonishing if he somehow managed to escape that explosion. The more popular theory is a simple one: Flashpoint. Could Deadshot’s return be the latest change to come out of Barry’s time travel?
