If you’re looking to connect with other Arrowverse fans, there are a lot of options out there. Even if you just stick with Facebook (the world’s largest social media platform), there are dozens of pages and groups available. But by far, the largest, most organized Facebook Groups belong to a man named Lance Ausfresser.

Lance is the founder of a number of different Facebook Groups devoted to DC Comics fandom, including four for the main Arrowverse shows: Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

With over 10,000 members in each of the Arrow, Flash, and Legends groups, they are by far the largest Facebook Groups devoted to each show. Lance and his admin team run a tight ship, too, keeping the discussions clean, friendly, and focused in all of his groups.

In anticipation of this week’s season premieres of The Flash and Arrow (with Supergirl and Legends coming next week), Lance agreed to entertain a few questions from

Talking Arrowverse with Lance How did you get started with creating your Arrowverse Facebook Groups? What prompted you to start them?

Lance Aufresser: Everyone was making pages on Facebook with just a bunch of random likes and some page owners didn’t give you the option to make your own topic. I wanted to do something more with a community feel and with my own personal vision.

John Barrowman Teases a Possible Return to the Arrowverse Did you ever imagine your Facebook Groups would become so popular?

Lance: OMG NO WAY!! I added my own spin to the Arrow group calling it the “ARROW CAVE” and then down the road calling [the Flash group] “FLASH FACTS!!” I’m an old school fan, and I wanted that to be implemented in the name. So were you a DC Comics fan prior to the start of Arrow? What got you into comics initially?

Lance: I’m 46 now, I’ve been a fan of comics I’m thinking around 40 years now. In regards to Green Arrow, my first comics would probably be THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. Are there members of your groups who are cast members or crew members on any of the shows?

Lance: We have Marc Guggenheim in my Arrow, and I think Supergirl groups. I have John Wesley Shipp in my Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow groups.

I have dozens of DC personnel that I try and tie them to that specific group. Whether they worked on a Supergirl, Flash or Green Arrow comic, I have them as members.

I also [have] several writers and producers that are behind the scenes whom they asked me to not drop their names. Have you ever been contacted by the Arrowverse producers for any reason?

Dinah Will Fully Embrace Her Role as Black Canary This Season on 'Arrow'

Lance: I have a few times, once by Marc thanking me for inviting him and [to say] he was impressed by the structure of our Arrow group. Other than the four Arrowverse Groups, what other Facebook Groups do you have?

Lance: We have a GOTHAM, DC CINEMATIC, GLC and we created a group for for their CW AFTERSHOWS. Do you have a favorite among the four Arrowverse shows?

Lance: FLASH! I find it more exciting and more true to the comic book characters. Even more specifically, do you have a favorite character?

Lance: I’m a huge DC FAN. I’d go with FIRESTORM, I’m looking forward to seeing him utilize his transforming powers. What are you most looking forward to in the new seasons of each show?

Why 'The Flash' Needs a 'Rebirth' in Season 4

I was a member of the arrow group, but honestly, I left because of the unjust behavior, not just from members but from some admins as well. A few of the admin seem to be huge Felicity fans and if you bad mouth her, you’re practically given a ban warning, but if you talk about Laurel, they come to stick up for felicity and hate on laurel. And they’re not very open to listening to reason, it’s more like a dictatorship in regards to that. The other groups are a tad better

    • Lance doesn’t even like Felicity and has talked negative about her. I think each side just sees through their own prejudges. I’m a Sara fan and I get accused of being both pro Laurel and Pro Felicity. Both sets of fans are very passionate.

      • Sarah Waters

Sure, he does. But no one else had better do it, or one of the other admins deletes it. They wouldn’t dare delete Lance’s stuff since he owns the group.

This group may have 10,000+ members, but go hang out there for awhile and you’ll see it’s the same 10-15 people posting all the time. Where are all of these other members? Fed up with the BS, is my theory. I know the guy who invited me to join left, and so did a few of the others I interacted with in there while I was a member. They all got tired of it being an Olicity/Felicity fanpage and went elsewhere to discuss the actual Green Arrow.

    • Nonta Coulibaly

      Yeah me too.
Plus the group became so filled with girls talking non-stop about Olicity crap.
If you hate the Olicity, better stay off. I once said that the Olicity puts the show in a different way, that it makes Oliver too vulnerable as he’ll always have to watch her back, that we had enough drama in a Sci-Fi TV Show. Some of the girls even insulted me for that. Many others treated me of all kind. I then left because any fan should have the right love or hate any character they desire.
And you sir/mam Tarotx should read Markov’s comment again. He mentioned “some of the admins”. Lance is a very comprehensive admin. He contacted me privately asking me “why” when I had left the arrow group. Because before I leave I made a post telling them that I had to leave without giving a reason.

    • Sarah Waters

I was banned from the group without any warning, I’m assuming because I questioned the constant deletion of my posts. I am a Laurel/BC fan, and every time I posted, my comments were deleted. And if the approve posts feature was turned on, none of my BC posts were ever approved. I guess they didn’t like me questioning them.

And yes, there are some pro-Felicity admins who aren’t shy about expressing their love of her and all things Olicity, and if you don’t agree with them, they delete your stuff. There doesn’t seem to be any uniformity with how the individual admins enforce group rules, either. Lance seems completely unaware of which one of his admins is hitting the delete button on Laurel/BC fans. And God help you if you’re a comics fan. You’re not allowed to even say the c word. It’s a dirty word in that group. You’ll quickly be told by some of the admins that these shows are not the comics. Have a criticism of the writing? You’re not allowed to express it because supposedly Marc Guggenheim is a member of the group and so are some of the writers. It’s really not a place to discuss your love of GA at all, IMO.

Lance goes on and on about encouraging members to invite their friends and to help him get more members, but I wouldn’t invite my worst enemy to any of his groups.

And FYI….his isn’t the largest Arrow group on Facebook. This guy is: He has several groups as well and he doesn’t censor people from commenting. He may argue with your viewpoint, but he doesn’t censor you.

      • Markov18

Right? Instead of solving problems, Lance just brushes it off and just says, go to one if our other groups or he’ll just ignore you completely if you have a problem. I get he’s a family guy, but he uses that excuse all the time to shy away from dealing with problems in his group

  • Markov18

Personally I like the DC Cinematic Universe group, they show all things dc twisted. Comics, tv, games, comics etc. And you’re free to post almost whatever and free to say what you feel, as long as you don’t personally attack someone and get out of hand. A group where you get to be a vocal fan!
