Barry Allen meets Julian Albert and “the real Jay Garrick” heads back to Earth-1 in the promotional photos for the upcoming episode

Yesterday, two new photos of Tom Felton as Julian Albert were released by Entertainment Weekly. Then, around midnight, a photo of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) started making its way around the Internet. Finally, by the time the sun rose, the official photo gallery for the second episode of Season 3 was released.

By the looks of Cisco (Carlos Valdes), it seems as if Flashpoint will indeed only last for one episode…but that doesn’t mean everything’s completely back to normal. “[Julian] is a direct result of Flashpoint,” executive producer Todd Helbing told EW. “Barry’s had that lab to himself, but now he’s got to share it with this guy, who doesn’t really like him and is kind of prickly.”

Having Felton on the show is a big change in terms of storyline and the structure of the show itself. For example, how can Cisco continue to make Harry Potter references when an actor from the films works with his best friend? EP Andrew Kreisberg explains:

“Tom Felton is portraying a character on our show — he’s not portraying Tom Felton. Cisco will continue to make pop culture references. We’re, generally speaking, not afraid to have a little bit of a meta-moment.”

Felton added:

“I’m so excited for the references. I don’t doubt the talent and creativity of the writers. I’ve got a feeling they’ll come up with some real good ones. I hadn’t thought about me saying it — I assumed it would come at me from Cisco — but maybe I should give it to Cisco. Maybe he should misquote something and I could correct him.”

Focusing back on the gallery, Julian (whose nameplate reads “Julian Albert: Meta-Human CSI Specialist” but was revealed to be Julian Dorn when Felton was cast) isn’t the only surprising face to show up in Central City. Earth-3’s Jay Garrick is, without a doubt, back and looking as heroic as ever. And, finally, I’d like to direct your attention to that photo of Cisco. It looks like he’s working on some gloves. Could those be the gloves Vibe wears as part of his super-suit in the New 52 run? They look extremely similar. In the penultimate episode of Season 2, Cisco first instinctively projected a sonic blast to protect himself and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) from Black Siren (Katie Cassidy). Then, in the canon Chronicles of Cisco tumblr blog, Cisco tested out that ability and was only able to summon it when he thought the car whose trunk he was locked in was being hijacked. It wouldn’t be above Cisco’s intelligence to attempt to make gauntlets that can help him harness that power better–similar to how he uses his Vibe goggles already.
