Returning after last season’s ‘The Runaway Dinosaur,’ this year’s Kevin Smith episode will spotlight a favorite villainess

Last season, geek auteur Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Yoga Hosers) brought his talents to the small screen when he guest-directed an episode of The Flash. ‘The Runaway Dinosaur’ was a hit with audiences and critics alike. The touching story featuring the return of Barry’s mother, Nora, was a touchstone moment for the series.

This season, Smith is doubling his efforts, returning to direct another episode of The Flash and also jumping over to helm an upcoming Supergirl episode, as well. With production on Smith’s episode gearing up, the director has now revealed the title of his new episode — and it’s sure to please a lot of fans.

Yesterday, Smith took to Twitter to announced that filming was beginning on the episode and shared the script’s title page:

You’ll notice Smith tried his best to obscure the episode’s title by placing a pen over the center of the page. Luckily, if you look at the top of the page, you can clearly see the title showing through from the script’s second page. That title? ‘Killer Frost’.

Yep, it looks like we’re going to get an entire episode dedicated to Caitlin Snow’s (presumed deceased) Earth-2 doppelgänger, Killer Frost. Fans have been hungry to see more of the character ever since she was introduced last season, and it looks like they’ll be getting their chance.

Earlier this summer, Smith had speculated that screenwriter Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class, Thor) would return to pen his Season 3 Flash episode, but it seems that’s not the case. The teleplay is credited to Andrew Kreisberg & Brooke Roberts, from a story by Judalina Neira. After work stalled on a big screen Booster Gold film that Stentz was working on with Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti, he took time to guest-write Smith’s Season 2 episode, ‘The Runaway Dinosaur.’ Stentz officially joined the show as a consulting producer for Season 3, and though he didn’t script Smith’s episode, he did pen the upcoming fifth episode, ‘Monster’.

The Flash returns for its third season starting on Tuesday, October 4 at 8/7c on The CW.
