Just last week, three casting descriptions for The Flash were released. One of those roles was filled that same day when Grey Damon joined the show as Mirror Master. Yesterday, it was announced that Ashley Rickards will be playing a female version of The Top and today, the third and final role has been cast. As theorized, Fargo actress Joey King will be playing the role of Frances “Frankie” Kane, aka Magenta.
Here’s how ComicBook.com describes her character:
A teen with a troubled past, Frances “Frankie” Kane is a meta-human with the ability to control metal… but her powers come with a dangerous side-effect, causing her villainous alter ego known as Magenta to emerge.
Frances Kane first appeared in New Teen Titans #17 in 1982 and was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. She met Wally West when they were kids and they became friends…that is until Frances started exhibiting strange magnetic abilities when she reached adulthood. Wally helped her to control her powers and they fell in love. After he won the lottery, though, and asked her to move in with him, she realized things were moving too fast between them and fled. She came back years later mentally unstable and hungry for vengeance.
Frankie will arrive in Central City on the show’s third episode of the season. It’ll be interesting to see A) the relationship with Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) the show crafts for her (when it looks like things are heating up between him and Jesse) and B) how Cisco (Carlos Valdes) will react to this meta who will be experiencing the very thing he feared would happen to him all throughout Season 2.
King is also known for her work in films such as Independence Day: Resurgence, Wish I Was Here, and Oz the Great and Powerful.
The Flash will return for its third season on Tuesday, October 4th at 8/7c on The CW.
