The gender-bent version of the classic Flash foe will debut in episode 4
The Flash is continuing to adding to its rogue’s gallery on top of confirmed villains Savitar and Mirror Master. Infamous Flash foe The Top is coming to The Flash Season 3 — with a twist.
E! News has announced that actress Ashley Rickards will join the show as Rosalind “Rosa” Dillon, aka The Top. In the pages of DC Comics, Top has always been a male, with the real name of Roscoe Dillon.
This new gender-bent version was hinted at last week when a leaked casting description for Dillon hit the web:
ROSALIND “ROSA” DILLON – Female, late 20s, open ethnicity. There’s crazy and then there’s crazy… and then there’s Rosa. A wild-eyed whirlwind of a woman, this vexing, unpredictable, mentally unstable criminal has a history of violence and a nasty habit of turning people’s worlds upside down. Open to offer only / cameo ideas as well. RECURRING GUEST STAR.
E! News describes Dillon as “the Bonnie to Mirror Master’s Clyde.” The same day the aforementioned casting descriptions were leaked, it was announced that Aquarius star Grey Damon will be playing Mirror Master in Season 3.
Both characters will debut in the season’s fourth episode, which will also feature the return of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold. “It’s kind of the origin of Mirror Master…We’re really excited,” said executive producer Aaron Helbing. His brother and fellow producer Todd Helbing said, “It’s the origin story of him, but it’s this struggle between Mirror Master and Captain Cold and you get to see who comes out on top.”
Rickards is best known for her starring role as Jenna on MTV’s Awkward, which ran for five season between 2011-2016. She also had memorable appearances on One Tree Hill and American Horror Story Season 1.
The Flash will return for its second season on Tuesday, October 4 at 8/7c on the CW.
