‘The Runaway Dinosaur’ director returns to ‘The Flash’ and tackles ‘Supergirl’ too
Indie director and geek fanboy Kevin Smith let slip a few months ago that he was returning to direct another episode of The Flash next season, but thanks to the TCA 2016 panel, we now know he’ll be stopping by to direct an episode of Supergirl, as well.
Last season, Smith directed the fan-favorite Flash episode ‘The Runaway Dinosaur,’ written by screenwriter Zack Stenz (Thor, X-Men: First Class). Stenz has joined the show as a consulting producer in Season 3, and is rumored to be scripting Smith’s episode again this season.
In recent weeks, Smith has expressed interest in directing episodes of Supergirl and Arrow. Smith created a popular Green Arrow villain called Onomatopeia in the early 2000’s, and would like to bring him onto the show, if possible.
Despite the return of Smith, producers stated at TCA that the four shows are attempting to diversify behind the camera, offering directing jobs to over 20 women this year. Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim said at least 50% of the directors for his show’s new season are “diverse”.
No word yet on which episodes Smith will be directing and where in the season they will air.
This is a breaking news story, and we will update as developments occur.
