Widely rumored ‘Supergirl’ storyline may become fact if a popular website’s source is to be believed

Ever since we learned The Flash would be tackling the popular Flashpoint storyline in Season 3, one of the most widely-discussed possibilities is that Supergirl could end up merging with the three Arrowverse shows. Now, a new rumor says that is exactly what will happen.

Since Supergirl was co-created and is executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, just like Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, it makes sense that it would share a universe with the other shows. But, owing to the fact that it aired on a different network last season and features many elements that aren’t present in the Arrowverse (such as aliens), it has remained in its own separate universe so far.

In the 2011 comic book version of Flashpoint, not only was the DC universe changed forever, resulting in the New 52 line of books, but the previously separate Vertigo and Wildstorm universes were merged into the main DC universe, as well. So with The Flash airing its own version of the story this year and Supergirl moving to The CW, it seems like merging Supergirl could be a logical move.

Now, Bleeding Cool is reporting that it will soon be announced that Supergirl will indeed become part of the Arrowverse after the Flashpoint storyline. Here’s their report in full:

“The word is going to be out soon, what with the four DC CW casts for Arrow, Supergirl, DC Legends Of Tomorrow and Flash all filming together right now….

It has been established that Arrow, DC Legends Of Tomorrow and Flash all take place in the same fictional universe, but Supergirl is from another dimension who has to cross over.

As of the upcoming Flashpoint crossover storyline, Supergirl will now be a part of the main DC TV universe. Only Barry Allen will know that they were once separate… any remaining continuity issues will be handwaved as ‘a time traveller did it’.

Also in Supergirl, We know Metallo is the bad guy but they are introducing a new Metallo 2 character. Both Superman and J’onn J’onnz will fight him, while Supergirl deals with the original Metallo on her own, elsewhere.

Look out for Krypton Park in Metropolis…”

The “filming” the report refers to is seemingly in reference to the photo released by Arrow‘s Stephen Amell yesterday, teasing something involving himself, Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance), and Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer). Since the upcoming crossover episodes haven’t even been written yet, it’s been widely speculated that this was either a photoshoot or a crossover promo.

Bleeding Cool has a hit-or-miss track record when it comes to rumors like this, so take it with a grain of salt for now. As previously mentioned, the timing is right for such a merger to happen, though, so there is a high probability this could be true.
