Cat Grant actress will appear on the show ‘when she can’

After months of rumors, the status of one of Supergirl‘s biggest cast members has now been confirmed. Actress Calista Flockhart will no longer be a series regular on Season 2, but will appear in a recurring capacity.

When it was announced that Supergirl was moving from CBS to The CW and moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver, there were immediately reports that Flockhart was hesitant to make the move. Arguably the biggest star on the show, Flockhart holds more sway than the rest of the cast, and with her husband (Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford) in LA, it makes sense for Flockhart to want to stay put.

“Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant.”

In a statement, Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kriesberg said, “Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen.”

Filling the gap in her absence will be new character Snapper Carr, played by Cougar Town star Ian Gomez. Carr is the new CEO of CatCo magazine and Kara’s new boss on the show.
