Sorry, Olicity fans, the former head of Palmer Tech is moving on next season

Whether you love it or hate it, the relationship between Oliver and Felicity has been a major point of discussion surrounding the past few seasons of Arrow. One of the more intriguing rumors to come out of Comic-Con this year was a story that Felicity would be getting a new boyfriend when the show returns this fall. It turns out there was more truth to that rumor that many suspected.

TVLine conducted a group interview with the Arrow cast at Comic-Con and released details and video this past weekend. Felicity actress Emily Bett Rickards confirms the boyfriend stroy right off the bat: “It is a true rumor. She steps on it pretty hot off the bat. You’ll meet him quite quickly.”

So how will Oliver react to Felicity’s new love interest? “I think he’ll be fine,” said Stephen Amell. “I think he’ll be fine. He will hug a pillow, much like I’m hugging a pillow right now, but he’ll do it in private.”

“Or the opposite of that. We meet him in episode one, he dies in act four,” joked Amell.

Rickards interjected, “And Felicity cries, and Oliver’s there to cover the tears.”

“He got shot with an arrow in the head? Don’t look at me,” Amell continues.

Finally Amell attempts to give a serious answer, but still manages a fair amount of snark: “I mean, I feel like Oliver will react the way he always reacts. He’ll seek the advice of others, and be totally calm, and not react violently at all. Or whatever the opposite of that is.”

The “Olicity” relationship has had its ups and downs, with the characters leaving for what seemed to be a happy ending at the end of Season 3, then returning to face hardships in Season 4 when Felicity lost her trust in Ollie.

We’ll see what happens when Arrow returns on Wednesday, October 5 at 8/7c on The CW.
