Actor/Comedian Ian Gomez will play the new CEO of ‘CatCo Magazine’
A classic comic book character is coming to Supergirl next season, but with a few new twists. Ian Gomez has joined the cast in the role of Snapper Carr.
In the pages of DC Comics, Lucas “Snapper” Carr is a longtime civilian ally of the Justice League. Entertainment Weekly describes Supergirl’s version of the character as “a headstrong, sharp-witted newsman, hired by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) to be the editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. Snapper’s commitment to hard-hitting journalism pushes CatCo reporters to dig deeper in the pursuit of excellence. He’s a man who tells people what he thinks of them, and his no-holds barred approach pushes Kara (Melissa Benoist) in unexpected ways.”
With Supergirl moving from CBS to The CW this fall, and production moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver, there are rumors that Flockhart is hesitant to make the move. The best possibility is that Cat Grant will remain on the show in a supporting capacity, but Kara will now report to a new boss. Snapper Carr certainly seems to fit that description.
Gomez is best known for his role as Andy on the ABC/TBS sitcom Cougar Town, as well as his regular role on the J.J. Abrams series Felicity. He has a long list of television and film credits, and recently appeared in wife Nia Vardalos’ big-screen sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Snapper Carr is the third new character announced so far for Supergirl‘s second season, along with former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the United States president and Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman.
The new season of Supergirl will premiere on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW. Starting August 1, though, The CW will be reairing the entire first season with two episodes each Monday at 8/7c and 9/8c.
