Malcolm Merlyn to have a presence on ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’
John Barrowman started out as Oliver Queen’s adversary in a recurring role during the first two seasons of Arrow. Then he was promoted to series regular for Seasons 3 & 4, and even put in a guest appearance on The Flash last year to help in setting up Legends of Tomorrow. Now, thanks to a new deal, Barrowman will continue to be a series regular — but on ALL THREE shows.
At the time of Miller’s new contract, executive producer/co-creator Greg Berlanti said, “What it really emulates to us is the comic books themselves where there really are a cast of characters… In success we hope to continue with other characters finding their way across all the shows.”
One big question is whether Barrowman will appear on Supergirl, as well. TVLines says Barrowman will be a series regular “across all of the superhero shows executive-produced by Greg Berlanti.” Supergirl certainly fits that description, but is not specifically mentioned in the report.

With the move to The CW this year, Supergirl is expected to have more synergy with the Arrowverse shows. A four-show crossover has already been announced for this winter, and many have speculated that the upcoming Flashpoint storyline on The Flash could result in Supergirl‘s universe merging with the Arrowverse. So the potential for an appearance from Malcolm Merlyn is not out of the question.
We’ll likely learn more later this month at San Diego Comic-Con, where all four shows will have a major presence, including star-studded panels. We’ll have live coverage of the event, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr for all the latest updates.
