Stephen Amell welcomes fans to ‘Arrow’ Season 5, showrunner reveals premiere title

After what seems like a very short hiatus, Arrow is officially back in business. Today marks the first day of filming for the show’s upcoming fifth season in Vancouver.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim marked the occasion by sharing the title page from the season premiere script on Twitter:

As you can see, this officially reveals the title for the first Season 5 episode as ‘Legacy,’ written by Guggenheim himself and fellow showrunner Wendy Mericle, from a story by executive producer Greg Berlanti.

What does ‘Legacy’ refer to, though? We know from pre-production art that a Black Canary memorial will possibly be built in Star City, so could the premiere dwell more on Laurel’s legacy as both a prosecutor and a hero?

We still don’t know much about the plot of Season 5, though we have been introduced to a number of new characters coming on board the show, including The Walking Dead‘s Chad L. Coleman as the season’s big bad, gangster Tobias Church.

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell took to Facebook during a break in filming to welcome fans to Season 5. Amell showed off the return of his Oliver Queen haircut and revealed that he was wearing a tuxedo for the scene currently being shot.

'Arrow' Season 6 Could Feature a Female-Centric Team Episode

As stated in his video, Amell is likely to be extremely exhausted by the end of filming today. After spending the weekend at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fast convention in New Jersey, Amell make a last-minute decision to fly home to Los Angeles and spend July 4th with his family.

After a series of passport-related mishaps, Amell finally made it home, but then, of course, he had to fly up to Vancouver this morning to begin filming Arrow.

Arrow Season 5 will premiere exactly three months from now, on Wednesday, October 5, at 8/7c on The CW.
