Title for season premiere reveals very little, but is a familiar phrase for fans

Production on the upcoming second season of Supergirl is beginning to gear up, and we now know the title for the season’s first episode.

Actor David Harewood, who plays Hank Henshaw/J’Onn J’Onnz/Martian Manhunter, shared the title page of his season premiere script on Instagram earlier today:

Let's go. #SupergirlCW

The title, as revealed by Harewood’s script, is ‘The Adventures of Supergirl.’ There’s not much that can be inferred from that title; it is, of course, the title of Sterling Gates’ recent digital tie-in comic, and “The Adventures of” either Superman or Supergirl is long-time trope in DC Comics history.

The second season of Supergirl will feature a number of changes, so this title could be indicative of the episode’s status as a sort of “second pilot.” Beyond the move from CBS to The CW this year, the show’s physical production has moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Calista Flockhart, who plays Cat Grant on the show, is not expected to make the move and may have a diminished role next season. Also, the often-alluded-to-but-never-seen Superman will finally make an appearance, in the guise of actor Tyler Hoechlin.

Filming for Supergirl season 2 should begin sometime this month, and the season premiere, ‘The Adventures of Supergirl’ will air on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
