Tom Felton, the actor behind Draco Malfoy, will be a series regular next season

As The Flash gears up to begin filming Season 3 in the coming days, a most magical bit of casting news has been revealed: actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfory in the Harry Potter films, will be a new series regular.

TVLine reports that Felton will play Julian Dorn, “a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation.”

The character was first revealed in a casting notice earlier this month, where Julian was described as a “major recurring character of Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own….”

While Felton is obviously most well-known for his work on the Harry Potter franchise, he’s also had roles in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the television shows Labyrinth and Murder in the First.

The Flash is taking on the famous Flashpoint storyline from the comics this season, with Barry altering the timeline by saving his mother in last season’s finale.

Grant Gustin will appear on a Flash panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 13, and Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, October 4 at 8/7c on The CW.
