Former ‘Wonder Woman’ star Lynda Carter will appear in a number of episodes next season

It looks like the second season of Supergirl is about to get a lot more wonderful (pun intended). Lynda Carter has officially signed on to appear as the President of the United States when the show moves to The CW this fall.

Carter famously played Wonder Woman on the eponymous TV series that ran from 1975 to 1979, a role that has become iconic for the actress, much like Adam West in the 1960s Batman series. Gal Gadot has now taken on the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and in next year’s Wonder Woman solo movie (not to mention the Justice League movie that’s currently filming).

It’s been known for months now that Carter was being sought for the presidential role, with producers proclaiming their desire to bring her on board. Carter joins fellow superhero alums Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Helen Slater (1984’s Supergirl movie) on Supergirl, as well as Laura Vandervoot, who starred on another superhero series that Lynda Carter guested on: Smallville.

Carter’s first appearance will be in the third episode of the upcoming season. Supergirl moves to The CW this fall, starting Monday, October 10 at 8/7c.
