Gamestop pre-order bonus confirms ‘Injustice 2’ is coming

After a week of rumors, it seems we have confirmation that a sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming.

Polygon has an image of a leaked Injustice 2 promo poster, reportedly being sent to Gamestop stores around the country. The poster features Batman doing battle with the Flash, along with the tagline “Every battle defines you.”

According to their tipster, Gamestop managers have been informed that the posters are to be given away for free to customers who pre-order Injustice 2.

Last week, there were reports that Injustice 2 was in the works and would be announced any day now, possibly before the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) begins on June 14. According that report, the game is due to be released in March 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. That’s about nine months from now, so it is conceivable that Gamestop would be taking pre-orders soon.

The original Injustice: Gods Among Us was a DC comics fighting game developed by the same team behind the recent Mortal Kombat games, NetherRealm Studios. The story had the Joker tricking Superman into killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis. As a result, Supes went mad and took over the world. Batman then recruits a roster of DC heroes to help taken down Superman once and for all. The game featured an all-star cast, including Neal McDonough (Arrow‘s Damian Darhk) as the Flash, and Stephen Amell as Arrow.

'The Flash' Will 'Quickly' Explain Julian's Absence This Season

Now that we know the game is likely real, here’s hoping Amell returns and brings Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist along with him as the Flash and Supergirl.

We should learn a lot more about Injustice 2 when E3 begins in Los Angeles next week, so be sure to follow us on Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter for all the latest news and updates.
