The Arrow star cites the unique opportunity Supergirl brings to The CW
With Supergirl already crossing with The Flash this season, many have speculated that the move to The CW this fall could lead to even more crossover adventures between Supergirl and the Arrowverse shows. Now Arrow star Stephen Amell has weighed in with his thoughts on the possibility of an Arrow/Supergirl crossover.
Amell is currently making the press rounds in support of his new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, so it was actually in a press junket for that movie that he was asked about an Arrow/Supergirl crossover. Loaded Online conducted the interview with Amell (watch the whole thing above), and here’s what Amell said in response to the prospect of a crossover:
“What’s that saying… do bears ‘you know what’ in the woods? I think that it’s highly likely that, if you have four DC superhero properties on one network, that that is an opportunity that might not ever exist again, and certainly hasn’t ever existed in the history of television. So I expect them to do something.”
In the Supergirl/Flash crossover, Barry somehow managed to enhance his speed to the point that he was able to “hop” universes and ended up in Kara’s National City (something he weirdly never brought up again, ever). It seems unlikely that Oliver could run fast enough to cross over onto Supergirl, so the more realistic scenario would be that Supergirl would come to the Arrowverse herself.
What would truly be exciting, now that Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow have established themselves with their first seasons, would be a major comic book-style event across all four series. Image a threat so vast and all-encompassing that Team Arrow, The Flash, and Rip Hunter’s team have to come together to stop it. And when even they aren’t enough, Barry has to return to National City and bring Supergirl back with him. Now THAT would be exciting.
