Felicity will be coming back, but will it be with Oliver or just the team?

For Oliver Queen and his teammates on Arrow, things are a bit of a mess at the moment. Not only did Felicity break off her engagement with Ollie and move out of their apartment, she also left Team Arrow in her role as tech expert Overwatch. Now, with the murder of Laurel Lance, things are even more frayed, but will the death spur a change of heart for Felicity?

In an interview with TVLine, Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim confirms that Felicity will reverse course on one of those two changes, but he won’t say which:

“She’s broken up with Oliver and she’s also broken up with the team essentially. And in Episode 19, we’ll see the undoing of one of those decisions.”

It’s safe to say we’d all be shocked if both of those situations aren’t eventually resolved, but showrunner Wendy Mericle teases that it won’t happen concurrently, if at all:

“One does not mean the other is going to happen. She could come back to the team and that does not mean that she’s back together with Oliver.”

A lot of fans were angered over the death of Laurel, not just because of the loss of a beloved character, but because they saw it as pandering to the “Olicity” fanbase. Guggenheim is adamant that’s not the case:

“People will have to see if things change or not change. We never had to kill Laurel to make Oliver and Felicity a couple. That is really independent from the romantic history that Oliver and Laurel had, and a completely different set of dynamics.”

Arrow is still on hiatus next week, so we’ll have to wait until April 27’s “Canary Cry” to see how things pan out for Felicity. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest!
