In Kevin Smith’s first episode of The Flash, ‘The Runaway Dinosaur’, his best friend and partner in crime, Jason Mewes, cameoed as a customer at Big Belly Burger who’s (mom’s) car was destroyed by Girder (Greg Finley) and as an Earth-2 meta-human. Additionally, in his first episode of Supergirl, ‘Supergirl Lives’, Smith’s own daughter, Harley Quinn, will be making an appearance. The tradition will continue as Smith’s Geeking Out cohost, Greg Grunberg, will be appearing in his second episode of The Flash, ‘Killer Frost’…and will continue to recur as CCPD Detective Tom Patterson.
Mashable describes the new detective as “a gruff, stalwart figure” and someone who is “unwavering in his commitment to protecting Central City from the dangerous metas that threaten it”. Actually, if you pause at the 0:20 second mark of the extended trailer for next week’s episode, you can briefly see Patterson pointing a gun at Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and ordering his men to shoot.
Also, in response to the news of his casting being released, Grunberg posted this photo of him and Keiynan Lonsdale (Wally West) on his Twitter account.
Lonsdale is clearly wearing the Kid Flash suit in this photo. We know that Wally is currently trapped in some sort of cocoon on the show and The Flash crossover synopsis reveals that he wants to help fight the Dominators but Iris (Candice Patton) tells him he isn’t ready. For everyone who was worried after the season premiere, all signs are pointing to Wally definitively fulfilling his comic book destiny.
