Carlos Valdes Teases ‘The Flash’ Season 3 and Vibe Development

This past weekend at DragonCon in Atlanta, several Berlanti-verse stars flew across the country to meet and greet with fans. Among them were Teddy Sears (Hunter Zolomon), Ciara Renée (Kendra Saunders), Violett Beane (Jesse Wells), Falk Hentschel (Carter Hall), Casper Crump (Vandal Savage), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon). In a press interview, Valdes revealed many interesting tidbits regarding the trajectory of his character this season on The Flash (in both timelines) and what we can expect from the many upcoming crossovers this year.

Even though it was strongly hinted at at the end of the Season 2 finale, it was officially revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July that Season 3 will be exploring the world of Flashpoint. We learned that in this new timeline, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) will be Kid Flash, Barry (Grant Gustin) will barely have a relationship with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton), and Cisco will be the richest man in America. Valdes gave us more insight into this new version of his character:

“He’s a billionaire! He’s created all these things and these apps at Ramon Industries — which looks a lot like S.T.A.R. Labs — and he’s ostentatious, not afraid to flaunt his wealth which makes for interesting colors and relationship dynamics. Barry has to struggle with the fact that this is not the Cisco he knows and there’s a bit of an antagonistic energy to this Cisco.”

So we now know more about the Cisco we’ll be introduced when Season 3 premieres…but what about after the timeline returns to normal?

“…[W]e get back to exploring Cisco and his powers. Powers grow. That’s what they do.”

In the New 52 run of DC Comics, Vibe is recruited to the Justice League of America because of his ability to disrupt the Speed Force and take down The Flash if he ever went rogue. That’s a power that Cisco’s yet to discover on the show. Will we finally be seeing it as Team Flash will be dealing with yet another speedster super-villain in the form of Savitar? We’ll just have to wait and see. When asked about the potential for a custom-made supersuit for Vibe, however, Valdes’ only response was “No comment.”

Just like all the fans, Valdes is equally excited about the potential for crossovers this season with the addition of Supergirl to The CW. It was even revealed at their Television Critics Association panel that the Scarlet Speedster and the Girl of Steel will be meeting up once again in the form of a musical crossover. Here’s what Valdes had to say about the highly anticipated event:

“I know that the wish is to have as much music as possible in the episodes themselves, but I’m not sure how much will be in there. We’ll just have to see what it will all sound like. … I do currently know the concept behind it (the crossover). It’s very entertaining and it leads to infinite possibilities.”

He also assured us that there is “a LOT of stuff planned” in terms of crossovers between all four shows and that “it’s going to be a busy year”.
