Felicity Smoak actress joins cast of new movie to film in Los Angeles this summer
Looks like we know how Emily Bett Rickards will be spending her summer vacation. Variety reports the Arrow actress has been cast in Slumber, a new thriller from Diablo Entertainment.
The new film is described as a mix of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Jacob’s Ladder. It tells the story of a woman who awakens from a coma and must find her daughter and rediscover her life.
Rickard’s co-stars include Darby Stanchfield (Scandal, Mad Men), Meaghan Rath (Being Human), and Isiaiah Mustafa (the Old Spice guy!). Slumber will be directed by newcomer Darrell Wheat (Recovery).
This isn’t Rickards only feature film to shoot this summer; she’s also part of the cast of Axis, the directorial debut of actress/comedienne Aisha Tyler. The crowdfunded movie is due to shoot in June with co-stars Jerry Ferrera (Entourage), Amber Nash (Archer), and Ted McGinley (Married…With Children). The script by Emmett Hughes finds an Irish actor fending off his demons as he sets out to film a blockbuster new movie.
Last year, Rickards co-starred in Brooklyn, which was nominated for Best Picture at the 88th annual Academy Awards. Rickards was “Patty,” one of the girls at the boarding house where lead character Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) lives when she immigrates from Ireland.
